资源昆虫与生物工程研究中心前身是成立于1978年的昆虫病原线虫研究组，曾改名为生物技术研究组，2009年更名为资源昆虫与生物工程研究中心。

　　本研究中心致力于新型生物杀虫剂—昆虫病原线虫研究、产业化与应用；资源昆虫（药用昆虫－蝙蝠蛾、传粉昆虫－蜜蜂、饲料昆虫－家蝇）的研发；昆虫和真菌功能基因研究；前沿生物技术（发酵工程、基因工程、生物化学等）研究与应用。在生物杀虫剂和资源昆虫研发，应用生物技术领域具有接轨国内外水平的实力，为相关行业提供特色共性和关键支撑技术。

　　近20年来，本中心先后承担各类科研项目80多项，包括多项国际合作项目（如澳大利亚ACIAR国际合作项目、国际科学基金会（IFS）项目、欧盟第五框架多边合作项目、中国-比利时国际合作项目、欧盟第七框架多边合作项目）、国家自然科学基金、广东省自然科学基金研究团队项目、广东省自然科学基金、广东省科技厅重点攻关等项目；获得省级以上科技成果奖9项，；申请国家发明专利近67件，其中授权专利50件；申请国际发明专利6件，其中授权2件；发表学术论文近150多篇，其中SCI收录论文60余篇；参编了包括《Entomopathogenic Nematology》、《Application of Entomopathogenic Nematodes》、《Mass production of Beneficial organisms》英文专著3本，《害虫生物防治》中文专著1本；制定企业标准16项；2001年至今已培养硕士30名，博士10名，博士后2名。

　　Research Center for Resource Insects and Biotechnology (RCRIB)，was founded in 1978, with former name entitled Research Group for Entomopathogenic Nematodes. The Center was renamed as the Biotechnology Research Group in 2000 and as the present name in 2009.

　　Research Areas

　　(1) The research, industrialization and application of the novel biological insecticide - entomopathogenic nematodes.

　　(2) The research and utilization of resource insects (medicinal insects - the Hepialidae insects, pollinators – honey bee, feed insects-house fly) and their functional genes;

　　(3) The research and application of biotechnology (fermentation engineering, genetic engineering, biochemistry etc.). 

　　Research Progress

　　In recent 20 years, the Research Center has undertaken more than 80 important research projects, including international cooperation projects [such as projects from Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), International Foundation for Science (IFS), the European Union Fifth and Seventh Framework Program (FP5 and FP7), Flemish Interuniversity Council and UK Department for International Development (DFID)], projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and other projects supported by local government.

　　The research center has obtained 9 academic prizes from national and provincial levels; 67 applied national invention patents (including 50 authorized patents); 6 applied international invention patents (including 2 authorized patents); more than 150 research papers including more than 60 papers in SCI source; 3 English books with chapters in “Entomopathology Nematology”, “Application of Entomopathogenic Nematodes”, “Mass production of Beneficial organisms”, and 1 Chinese book with chapter in “Biological Control for Pest”; 16 corporate standards; and 30 trained Master students, 10 PhD students, and 2 postdoctoral fellows since 2001.

　　研究中心团队组成

　　本研究中心现有工作人员16人，其中一级PI 1名，二级PI 5名。具正高职称4人、副高职称2人，中级职称5人；具博士学位6人、硕士学位4人。在读博士后1人，博士研究生2人、硕士研究生5人。拥有包括昆虫学、微生物学、生物化学与分子生物学、生物发发酵工程、害虫生防等多学科人员。

　　This research center has 16 staffs, including 4 professors, 2 associate professors and 5 research associates. Among them, 7 persons held doctoral degrees and 5 persons with master's degrees. There are 1 Post-Doctor, 2 Ph.D candidates and 5 Master students in this center. It composes of people from different subjects including entomology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biological fermentation engineering, pest management and so on.
